So after 2 years of hard-graft, blood, sweat, and the odd tear, launch day has finally arrived!

It's been a heck of a ride so far, but this is where the fun really starts.

When I look back at our old prototypes, that now look like crude experimental toys, it reminds me of how much development and how many false-starts we had before we finally cracked it, and discovered how to make a simple idea actually work in the real-world.

The launch has already been more of a success than we hoped, with interest rolling in from around the world, and from industries as diverse as beekeepers, construction workers, and kiwifruit packing houses.

We're also a last-minute exhibitor at the Safety Xpo at the end of this month, so if you're in Auckland come down and check out our stand, we'd love to meet you.

We're also in the middle of organising our Kickstarter campaign, which will "kick" off soon, so keep an eye out for that. One of the rewards will be an entertaining e-book written by yours-truly that documents our experiences to this point, and will give all you up-and-coming inventors and entrepreneurs advice on how to get from a hastily scribbled down idea, to a final product.

Welcome to the first blog post for Lift Smarter and our flagship product the Cartwright.

It's been a crazy busy few weeks now that we're counting down to the launch of our new product. It's been nuts around here as we filmed our first professionally shot video, fine-tuned the design of the Cartwright, and got the website and social media up-and-running.

We're all very excited to be part of a start-up like this one, and we're learning about marketing really fast as our minds wrap around the possibilities for this device, and the other ones that we're working on (which we can't tell you about yet but they're super cool).

We have lots planned, including a new business and marketing model that will see us travelling the world and bringing the device to those who need it most, and seeing how many applications and uses we can put it to.

The next blog will concentrate on our path to this point in time - how we got here. From then on you'll be taken on the ride with us as we get out from behind the safety of our laptops and phones, and give sales marketing a bloody good crack.

Well, the sun has just gone down in Saint Mary's Bay, so it's time to get back to work before the sandman arrives.
